wheel.me and Virtual Manufacturing UK have announced their collaboration, marked by the first wheel.me installation in Scotland. The installation has been completed at the Digital Process Manufacturing Centre (DPMC) in Irvine.

The collaboration brings autonomous mobility technology to the Scottish manufacturing sector, offering a practical and scalable approach to internal logistics automation. Together, wheel.me and Virtual Manufacturing UK will support manufacturers in improving material flow without requiring complex infrastructure changes or long implementation projects.

Virtual Manufacturing UK will introduce and support the integration of wheel.me’s solutions across Scotland, working closely with manufacturers to identify where autonomous mobility creates the most value. The focus is on increasing flexibility, reducing manual handling, and improving operational efficiency.

The first installation demonstrates how existing carts, racks, and trolleys can be made autonomous by integrating wheel.me wheels directly onto equipment already in use. This approach allows manufacturers to automate inteal transport quickly, starting with a defined application and scaling as needs evolve.

As part of the collaboration, wheel.me and Virtual Manufacturing UK recently hosted a joint webinar on autonomous intralogistics in real production environments, sharing practical insights and real-world examples.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition to make automation more accessible and practical for manufacturers across Scotland, with further joint activities, demonstrations, and customer cases planned throughout 2026.
